The Goodness of Green Tripe
What is Green Tripe?
Tripe is the stomach lining of ruminating animals – cows, sheep, deer, goats and pigs. Bleached tripe is used in various human dishes, while green tripe makes a good pet food. Green tripe is unwashed, unbleached and in its most natural form thus has the highest nutritional value. It is green because it contains partially digested plant matter.
Benefits
Unlike processed food, green tripe is full of live enzymes and gastric juices which are beneficial to our pets. It is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, amino acids, probiotics, phytonutrients, lactic acid bacteria (lactobacillus acidophilus), protein, fiber and fat.
Although smelly to the human nose, green tripe is very appealing to dogs (and some cats). Adding tripe to your pet’s diet may help give a noticeably more lustrous coat, cleaner teeth and more energy. It helps stimulate appetite and aids digestion too.
